I'm Going to do Something a Little Different with This Space... by The F@t Guy
|
12.23.09 Well, here we are again. It is Christmas time, and almost the end
of another year. It's hard for me to believe that this site has
been up for five years, and I still haven't done anything to convert my
old site to be compatible with this one. I had promised some time ago
to stick it out, and complete one section per month, until all of the
old sections and articles were neatly back in their appointed places.
But somehow life always seems to get in the way, and I have never been
accused of being "anti-procrastination". So here's the deal:
Instead
of my wayward promises, which I still mean to keep, I will endeavor to
place a blog post in this space as often as I can. Some portion of
these will be new material, as one can only get so much mileage out of
articles that are five years (and then some) old. Many of the subjects
dealt with in theI'IIm are no longer particularly timely. But it is my
fervent hope that I will become lazy (become?), and will find it easier
to convert articles instead of trying to find new subject matter.
So hopefully, more of the old stuff will be getting updated
and posted - and I can still feel like I haven't accomplished anything,
as is my wont.
So the site will soon be getting some categories
in the navigation bar (to your left), and articles will be linked
within each category, as well as in the archives below. This way,
readers can browse by subject matter, or by the whole gob, in a fashion
similar to what I had before such things were called blogs. Any
argument or praise that I might receive, that is worthy material (as judged
by me, your most humble host), will be appended to the article, along
with any replies I might find the whimsy to commit. Yeah, I know,
I am supposed to entertain you with a little comment posting dohickey
at the bottom, but I don't want to hear from you that badly. If
you are fired up enough to actually send an e-mail, I will probably
want to hear what you have to say.
As a matter of introduction
for new readers, I will spend this little missive talking about myself
- Not so much because I want you to know me or anything, but primarily
because my self is the only thing in which I could be considered an
expert.
As of this letter (Christmas of 2009), I am
forty-seven years old. I have a wife, and 4 children, one of
which is out of the house. I am a grandfather once, with another
on the way (due in the spring). My early years were spent in Chicago,
Illinois - the town of my birth. When I was in 6th grade, my father
brought us all out here to the Rocky Mountains, in Montana. This is
where my life has been spent, and this is where it was shaped. I
have always been self-employed, I enjoy the great outdoors, big
horses, big dogs, big trucks (lifted Chevy 4x4), and big cars (Chevy
hot rods). I also love guns, wood working and mechanics, as well as
computers, which is the field my current business revolves around:
I
am a computer tech. I also administer websites (including this one).
I have been a part of this field since the late 80's, and enjoy a
certain amount of credz, especially in my fields of expertise: Hard
drives, operating systems, and miniaturized operating systems for
rescue platforms or for legacy machinery.
As far as philosophy
goes, my tendencies run toward hard right Christian Conservative.
In fact, it isn't a tendency - I am about as far to the right as one
can get. I enjoy old classic books, great mysteries, and I am
consumed with knowing ancient history. If anyone outside of my family
has greatly influenced me, it would be Ronald Reagan and/or Isaac
Newton.
I find movies mundane, and have an eclectic taste in
music, which runs primarily toward Outlaw Country, Southern Rock, and
Classic Rock, but with a real influence by Classic and Contemporary
Folk.
But my thinking tends toward big things - I like to
ponder, and I am afraid that is the lion's share of what you will be
seeing here. The subject matter will largely be political or religious,
with a good bit of science and history as well - But not your average
schtick. I am pretty far afield in most things... I do not believe any
of the current models in any of the subjects mentioned. So the stuff I
will put here will be sure to offend, and some might find it
sacreligious. But I come by my conclusions and opinions honestly.
I will include my research, as much as the internet will provide... You
will probably have to go to books to proof my work, as much of what I
believe is found there, and not so very often on the net.
In conclusion, I expect rigorous debate, and will probably piss most everybody off. But that's what makes it fun!
