-I have been playing around a bit in Windows Vista
and am happy to say that with the single exception of Comodo
Firewall, all other applications we recommend are working in Vista- I
am currently altering the defaults in "Clean and Scan" to deal with the
differences. Soon to have a section regarding how to set up Vista
in something approximating what I have recommended for years- Using a
data partition and redirecting your data there. The upshot is that it can be done much as y'all are used to in Vista too... just a tweak or two and updating any older systems to be the same (that will be the bummer, esp. Win98 stuff). 040507 -I really want to thank friends and family for the tremendous support we have received during this time of sadness. My father's passing effected us all so much- It was absolutely devastating. Your warmth, help, and tears we meet with unending gratitude. You have lifted us up in a time of great trial, and your support made it all bearable. Meanwhile, back at the bench, life goes on... You might notice the whole place is a deeper blue than it has been- The black background recently used seemed to make it easier reading, so when I put the site back together, I redesigned it to mimic that to a degree. Hope you like it. Fancy buttons too- just cuz I needed the distraction. The "Working with Explorer" section of "Working with Windows" has a new tutorial to show how to determine file size. "How to Backup all my Junk" is now complete- Finally got a few pics up for the "Backup to CD" section using CDBurnerXPPro. No doubt I will expand the graphics and capts throughout the section, but the basics are now back in place I have installed a copy of XP to my TFGDEV machine (instead of Win2k which it used to dual-boot to)- This is so that I can update all the screen captures I have used in all the tutorials- Win98 is getting a bit dated now-a-days, and folks are getting confused as their system doesn't look like my screen capts- so expect some updates in that regard in the near future. 03.06.07 The Working with Windows framework is up, and will be expanding as needed. If there is something you don't know how to do, please write me and I will include it in these pages 02.24.07 Finally! a little updating done- A long promised "Working with Windows" section begins with "Windows Explorer -Using the Windows File Manager". These are very basic user-level articles whose purpose is to teach new users how to use their machine "How to back up all my Junk" is now almost completed, with a new section on drive to drive and syncronizing- Still needs a How-to for using a CD-rom... soon to follow. GPLiberty is now back on the map, but is currently empty, other than the intro. UserTools, my support CD is nearly ready to roll, and will contain how-tos for the freeware stuff on the CD. This is what the rest of the site is waiting for, as the how-tos within will be used in other ways... patience is a virtue. Bugkit is on the back burner now, till I get the rest of the site back together... as is upapps. Nearly all the old stuff is now converted to std html, so it should go quicker... TFGUTILS site will be back soon, as well as a step-by-step for making a bootable Mindows mini98 CD. The DOS pages will probably be back about the same time. Sorry it has been so long, but my health has been poor. Thanks to y'all for the encouragement during my trials and tribulations. 08.31.06 Changed the font site-wide. We'd like to thank dreamhost.com for excellent service and a nice, snappy-quick server to sit on. ******Snoopy-happy-dancing!!!************ Sorry to say, I lost some of the historical stuff doing the move- some is being rebuilt (to html std this time) but some will be gone forever... starting over spanky clean, so be patient please. We are experiencing some moving-day troubles... needless to say, we'll get it fixed in a short while; and the site comes w/ room for the forum and alot more to come!
